Overall, these great men who built America during the period between 1865 and 1900 had a profound effect in shaping the United States into the great nation it is today. From John D. Rockefeller revolutionizing the oil business, to Andrew Carnegie developing one of the greatest building materials the world had ever seen, all the way to J.P. Morgan merging and forming corporations that still exist today, these men were years ahead of their time when it came to the concept of commerce and industry. While many critics would argue that these men ultimately engaged in far more negative business practices that hurt the American economy, rather than positive practices, there is no doubt that without individuals such as John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan and many others, America would not be as industrially and economically developed as it is today. |
